Recognized as Naperville’s proactive, youth-oriented human service organization, KidsMatter is working to help young people build developmental assets including positive values, healthy relationships, and self-esteem.

Every year KidsMatter partners with our mental health, school, and faith-based partners to provide safe places for our parents to listen and learn. Forums occur four to six times a year for those who seek the expertise and guidance of professionals.

KidsMatter leads the Collaborative Youth Team of Illinois (CYT), a coalition of over 30 youth-serving organizations and agencies that are working together to promote and advocate the health and well-being of kids and families in DuPage and Will counties.

Our board members contribute a substantial amount of their time and expertise to support KidsMatter. From advising our organization to serving food or handing out tickets to attendees at our partners’ events, our board members do it all and they do it with heart.

KidsMatter works collaboratively with organizations and resources throughout the community, including mental health professionals, schools, public safety agencies, faith-based communities, and local businesses to provide quality programs that have an impact.

Since 2001, KidsMatter has been known for its FREE events and programs that serve the needs of our community. These free events continue today, due to the gracious support of our donors, and are focused on empowering youth and families with the tools to effectively manage the negative stressors of everyday life.

The Crisis Text Line serves anyone, in any type of crisis, providing access to free, 24/7 support and information via a medium people already use and trust: text.

A live, trained Crisis Counselor receives the text and responds, all from our secure online platform.

"As a parent of two young children, I want to be prepared with the resources to help them succeed. I want to be able to identify the potential warning signs and areas of danger that impact today’s kids, and help to empower them to be confident, and compassionate adults. The resources and programming that KidsMatter provides are vital in helping our children navigate the landmines of adolescence."

Erich Kroll, VP Corporate & Institutional Banking, PNC Bank

"I joined the KidsMatter board in 2015 because I was eager to be involved in the prevention side of the stressors and life struggles that affect our society’s adolescents. I wanted to learn how to recognize signs and triggers of unhealthy stress and anxiety so I could foster resilience in my daughter and help her grow up happy and healthy, as is KidsMatter’s mission. "

Kristen RefnessDirector, Financial Operations, Linden Oaks Behavioral Health

"Through KidsMatter, we are given the opportunity to share life’s ups and downs and help build a bright future for our kids by providing resources and programs for our future leaders, their families, schools, and various youth-based organizations."

Jenni Parks Lau, Chief Master & Owner, Naperville Martial Arts/PMAA

"The community gives so much to the students and staff of Naperville North that this is one small way to give back. The work that KidsMatter does for our community has a substantial impact on the wellness and success of our students."

Stephanie Posey, Principal, Naperville North High School
