TEEN
PHILANTHROPY
INITIATIVE

Bringing the three pillars initiative to The Naperville Area!

Our program, the Teen Philanthropy Initiative, follows the mission of The Three Pillars Initiative (TPI), a national 501(c)(3) philanthropy service organization whose mission is to partner with communities to establish youth philanthropy education programs that prepare the next generation of community leaders.

We recently celebrated the inaugural year of the Teen Philanthropy Initiative (TPI) for high school juniors! We look forward to their return next year and welcoming the new junior cohort. Check out the photo gallery and/or the NCTV video recording from our first Capstone Ceremony below.

Program Details

Following an application/interview process, 30 students will be selected for the program during their junior year, where they will be introduced to budgeting, as well as other general areas of the nonprofit sector. By their senior year, students will dive into the world of fundraising by launching a 9-month campaign, where they will use proven techniques to solicit donations that eventually go towards local nonprofit organizations the following year.

  • Juniors enroll and make a 2-year commitment to the program
  • Adult mentors deliver the curriculum and community outreach activities
  • First-year program devoted to learning and doing grantmaking
  • Second-year program devoted to learning and doing fundraising
  • Community service projects completed during both years

KidsMatter is excited to partner with North Central College for this initiative; and the students who join this program can earn college credit.
