Chief Jason Arres started his career in law enforcement with the Naperville Police Department in September of 2001. During his time with the department, he has held a variety of positions including but not limited to: patrol officer, undercover narcotics detective, intelligence detective, swat operator, WMD operator, patrol sergeant, administrative sergeant, watch commander, Office of Professional Standards commander, and Deputy Chief. On November 10, 2021, Chief Arres was sworn in as the Chief of Police.
Chief Arres has a Master of Science Degree in Public Safety Administration from Lewis University and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics from Northern Illinois University in Macomb. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, Northwestern’s School of Staff and Command in Naperville, and Leadership in Police Organizations.
Chief Arres has been a member of the KidsMatter board since the fall of 2018. Additionally, he has volunteered for local youth sports teams and other activities in the Naperville and Plainfield communities.
Chief Arres resides in Plainfield with his wife Nicki and has two children, Sydney and Charlotte.
