Organization Mission:
To collect, study, display, and conserve trees and other plants from around the world to inspire learning, foster enjoyment, benefit communities, encourage action, and enhance the environment.
Description of Volunteer Opportunities:
Our program is a seasonal, multi-year experience where Youth Volunteers in middle school and high school grow their skills and interests, and help others appreciate trees and nature. Youth Volunteers develop communication, self-efficacy, and leadership skills through their regular shifts in four different branches of service (Naturalist, Gardener, Tree Monitor, Science Camp). They connect with the natural world, become mentors to younger children, and rediscover some of the magic of a childhood in nature. They care for trees & plants and gain an awareness of how one’s actions can impact the environment. They gain insights into career paths in STEM fields and science and conservation knowledge through participation in STEM shifts.
