Skills or Experience Necessary:

Candidate must

• be willing and capable of implementing the specific mission of The Just Food Initiative of the Fox Valley
• be able to work amiably with the Fox Valley community’s diversities and challenges
• have successful experience in executive functioning
• understand the role of a Board of Trustees, implement accordingly
• show success in motivating, organizing, supervising Leaders and Volunteers — by consensus, not hierarchy
• understand legal and financial responsibilities of a not-for-profit organization
• demonstrate ability in management of all JFI’s programs and projects and their marketing
• have successful experience in not-for-profit fundraising
• be willing to be trained in organizing and maintaining a farmers’ market, supervising other personnel in this
• be able to design and implement JFI internal policies and procedures
• demonstrate outstanding skill in speaking and writing the English language
• own reliable computer, maintain dedicated at-home work space, be highly organized and self-motivated
• be interested in expanding up-to-date knowledge of nutrition, agribusiness, environmental justice issues
• be creative, resilient, persevering, committed
• be capable of working as part of a TEAM, with STRONG INTER-TEAM COMMUNICATION
• be reliably available 6 times / year for Saturday Team meetings and weekly executive meetings
• be willing to travel locally

Broad acquaintance with social justice, knowledge of and dedication to food injustice issues an enormous plus.  Bi-lingual ability a plus.  Background in biology / organic chemistry helpful.  Work is at home, in Batavia office, in the community.
