Description of Volunteer Opportunities:

History Squad Volunteers

Are you currently a 4th-7th grader who loves sharing history, performing, or giving back to your community?
History Squad volunteers engage with visitors in children’s history by playing historic games and demonstrating chores and other activities from the 1800s. History Squad volunteers will improve their public speaking skills, learn life skills from the 1800s, and, most of all, have fun bringing history to life.

History Connectors

Interested in engaging visitors of all ages in fun learning activities? 
History Connectors provide Naper Settlement visitors with hands-on educational experiences through a variety of activity carts and stations during our open season. History Connectors also help with Scouts, Playscape, and special programming.

Building Interpreters

Do you love telling stories?
Building Interpreters tell stories of the past and how they relate to the present. Through their interpretation, these volunteers provide an exciting and engaging experience that stimulates conversation and promotes an appreciation of Naperville’s history.

Permaculture Garden Volunteers

Permaculture Garden Volunteers assist with the weeding and general maintenance of the Naper Settlement Permaculture Garden. Volunteers are needed on Tuesdays, Thursdays, & Saturdays from 10 AM-12 PM from June through September 2025.

Event Volunteers

Special event volunteers are one-of-a-kind. Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older. Event volunteers work at Naper Nights, Oktoberfest, All Hallows, and Howlin’ at the Moon.
